Thaïsa Olivia is a passionate jazz vocalist and songwriter based in Amsterdam the Netherlands, with a warm, distinctive sound and a special flair of presentation. Her background is colorful and versatile, the same applies to her concerts. Beautiful and contemporary jazz originals take turns with a variety of freshly-arranged jazz standards, from groovy swing and sophistication to sensuality and contemplation, delivered with vitality and persuasion. She is always accompanied by exellent musicians, who each have amply earned their reputation. Thaïsa Olivia studied vocals at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and Music Therapy at the Hogeschool van Utrecht, the Netherlands. Thaïsa Olivia first fell in love with jazz in New Orleans, at Preservation Hall. Since then, she has been performing on a variety of stages in Europe and the US. Her curriculum is extensive, ranging from singing, dancing and presenting, to acting, directing, programming and more. She regularly gigs with the Thaïsa Olivia Quartet and as a freelance vocalist across the globe. Her extensive array of performances has gained her critical acclaim and a solid reputation. Thaïsa visited New York City frequently and made a promising vocal debut in several of its jazz venues in 2013. New York City has become her second home and she regularly performs in its vibrant jazz scene. She appeared at the renowned Jazz at Kitano, Zinc Bar, Brownstone Jazz, the Cupping Room, Don't Tell Mama, The Cornelia Street Cafe, Pangea a.o. She was also thrilled to perform in New Orleans, at the Spotted Cat Music Club, Snug Harbor and Cafe Istanbul.
Thaïsa performed with Ellis Marsalis, Don Braden, Dado Moroni, Michael Philip Mossman, Freddie Bryant, Ruud Jacobs, John Engels, Peter Beets, Rob Agerbeek, Rob Hoeke, Jaap Dekker, Hein van der Gaag, Ed Howard, John DiMartino, Vince Cherico, Jon Davis, Joris Teepe, Owen Hart Jr, Joseph Lepore, Luca Santaniello, Christian Doepke, Sven Schuster, Joost Kesselaar, Jasper Somsen, Ed Boekee and many more.
She worked with close harmony trio The Croonettes in Germany over the course of three years as one of the leading ladies, with the Grand Piano Boogie Train, Big Band Balance, the Jaap Dekker Band, Hot Club de Frank, The Feenbrothers, the Thaïsa Olivia Band, the international music theatre group 'Up with People' (one year US and European tour) a.o and has been devoted to her own jazz band, the Thaïsa Olivia Quartet, as vocalist and bandleader for many years and still counting.
